The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment supports human resource development in the field of rehabilitation through National Institutes, which offer a range of courses. Some of them are in the field,

1.1 Physiotherapy
Physiotherapy is an allied health profession that focuses on the use of physical agents in the prevention of disease management and rehabilitation of disabilities. Physiotherapy deals with issues including those related with neuromuscular diseases, musculoskeletal system and cardiovascular and respiratory systems. The therapies are based primarily on movement, manual therapy and the use of physical agents. The practitioner is trained to assess, plan and provide therapeutic services to people with deficits sensory and motor. After successfully completing the course, a student may apply for placement as a physiotherapist in hospitals, rehabilitation centers, centers health, and clubs and as teachers in the discipline concerned. The avenues of higher education and research are also there. Specializing in physiotherapy in the field of orthopedics, neurological, sports, rehabilitation, etc. chest physiotherapy and specialized techniques like manual therapy, electrotherapy, are also up.
1.2 Occupational Therapy
Occupational aims to provide functional and therapeutic management of people with disabilities (both physical and mental) in order to exercise maximum function independently as possible know. activities of daily living, play, work place performance through simulation work, EMG-biofeedback therapeutic activities, etc. In occupational therapy, modification, adaptive / assistive devices and support are also developed and used to make life more independent, productive and dignity.
As an indispensable member of the rehabilitation team, the discipline will find a wide scope in several hospitals, NGOs, spastic and psychiatric centers, industrial facilities, educational institutions, sports industries, nursing homes, plastic and cosmetic surgery and rehabilitation centers, etc. The community-based rehabilitation of leprosy is another area where occupational therapy is recognized as an important
Prosthesis and orthopedic
Prosthesis is an artificial replacement or substitution of a partial or total loss of a limb (edge) due to congenital or acquired causes prosthesis. The profession is the recognition in seventy post-war period. This was due to surge in the numbers of amputees requiring prostheses.
Orthosis is a device with an individual's body to support, correct or compensate for the deformation weakened or body part. Can also be applied with the additional goal to help, allow or restrict movement of the body joint. Orthopedics is the practice of design, manufacture, production and installation of a brace.
A Student Achievement of Prosthetics and Orthotics has scope for self-employment, hospitals, trauma centers, rehabilitation centers, industries and academic institutions, etc. in both government organizations and non-governmental sector in the country and abroad.

2.1 National Institute of orthopedic disabilities (INST), Kolkata .-
INST is BTRoad, Bon-Hooghly, Kolkata, was established in 1978. In addition to undergraduate courses in said physical therapy, occupational therapy, prosthetics and orthotics, the Institute also offers Post-Graduate Diploma in Rehabilitation and Disability Management and National diplomat (DNB) in the PMR at its headquarters in Kolkata. Institute also offers diploma courses MRW
High tool and die, Advanced Certificate in CAD-CAM Collaborating Centres for evil God, Calcutta, Ahmedabad and Ludhiana. training programs for short-term medical and paramedical professionals are held each year. Institute is also setting up courses at its regional center Dehradun and Aizawl.
Through their outreach programs in various parts the country, especially in states like West Bengal, UP, Bihar, Jharkhand, NE states are covered. INST composite supports Regional Centre Srinagar and implementation rehabilitation diploma, certificate in Prosthetics and Orthotics and of course the basis for special education teachers. The Institute has a hospital with 50 beds development within and between operations and the sophisticated laboratory capacity. 2.2 Swami Vivekananda National Institute Rehabilitation Training and Research (SVNIRTAR), Cuttack
Is SVNIRTAR in Bairoi, District Cuttack, Orissa 30 km from Bhubaneswar and Cuttack. The center of pilgrimage to Puri is also nearby. The Institute is running programs Degree in physiotherapy, occupational therapy and prosthetics and orthotics. It also has 100 hospitals where surgeries-Beded for people with deformities, contractures, clubfoot and Hansen's disease and has made a name for himself in limb lengthening by Ilizarov method surgeries. The institution is strong in research and the faculty has a number of published papers. It has also developed physical medicine and rehabilitation departments, physiotherapy, occupational therapy and prosthetics and orthotics. SVNIRTAR also offers courses at third cycle as the National Diploma (DNB) in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Master's in physical therapy and occupational therapy.
